Janet reminds to send in your membership fee. The address to send to is in the President’s letter. John will ask Margaret to email a reminder to membership in about a week.

WRAP Show: Entry deadline March 27. Jan gave some history about Wisconsin Regional Art Program; has been in existence for about 80+ yrs. Started out for rural artists and evolved to local/regional sponsorship. Artists enter a number of pieces which are critiqued by a professional. An art presentation/workshop is offered as well. Currently Waukesha/Ocon WRAP Show have a hybrid show; both an online gallery which is on the AWA website and a six-week public display at the Oconomowoc Art Center. The judge will be invited to view at OAC; however, if an artist cannot have their piece on display at OAC that is ok….your art will be judged using the online gallery. 1/3 get Honorable Mention awards. 1/3 get State Awards which get juried into the AWA Conference. Pieces then judged as Conference winners receive cash awards. In 2020 our Waukesha/Ocon show had about 7 Conference winners. Please enter at https://wiscartists.wildapricot.org/WRAP. Images of art should be sent to Jan; she will handle getting them posted to the online gallery. An email about entry, image submission, sizing info, artwork drop-off etc. will be sent to membership. (Update: Margaret sent this email on 3/18/21).

Courthouse Show: Meena will send out a summary about the 2020 show. She will be in contact with Hilda about the county website venue. Janet mentioned that artists can send Hilda a couple images and they will put in the Courthouse newsletter; Janet will put Hilda’s contact info in President’s letter.

Member’s Show, Exhibits: Renee spoke with John at OAC. Planning is being done for 2021. Hopefully Member Show will be in December. Exhibits: At Brookfield Library: Meena, Marie G and Bloo until end of March. Cindy & Marie H. during April and May. Then Angela and Donna. John is at the Delafield Library until end of March.

Programs: Carol has asked Bob Gurgul to do an art critique for next month’s meeting. Jean will contact Bob about the zoom screen sharing and image submission process. Look for more info about this April meeting art critique. Carol has some future speakers/programs setup.

Facebook/Publicity: Nancy will work on redoing WCAL brochure. She posts announcements on FB. FB group is not a paid membership, art can be shared on FB for likes and comments. Would say no more than one a day. This is different from being a paid member of WCAL and receiving the benefits of a paid member.

Website/Communications: Janet relays that WCAL has three ways of communicating. Facebook, Emails, Website. Looking into website spam removal.

Outside Summer Art Possibilities: Janet is looking for suggestions. Examples; she signed up for an early June Plein-Air contest. Art Camera’s is having outings each month for photographers. Outdoor paint pouring, enjoy a garden together. Bloo suggested art on her deck. Wilson Center has a picnic table area for plein-air. Holly announces that Inglewood artists having their sale on May 1st 9:30-4 at the Fish Hatchery. Retzer, Boerner, Frame Park formal gardens also good plein-air sites.

April Challenge, Recruit Volunteers for challenges: Reminder that you are welcome to show your challenge piece from previous months at any time. April challenge… something with puddles. Puddles can add interesting dimensions – reflections, wildlife around etc. Can be a photograph or a painting. Looking for volunteers for monthly challenges; like how Janet is handling – write note about it, talk about it during the meeting or you can simply make a suggestion to Janet. Please contact her if you are interested.
