“ It’s so fine and yet so terrible to stand in front of a blank canvas.”- Paul Cezanne

Hello WCAL members,

WCAL  LIVE   THIS  MONTH !!!!!  It will be so great to see everyone again! We will be meeting at the same place, Christ the Servant Lutheran Church , at 6:30 pm, on  Wednesday June 16th. We will be having a critique so please bring an example of your beautiful work, finished or unfinished.

I hope you have been surviving the heat. It has been a hot week for me as our air conditioner stopped working. We will be getting a new one Tuesday, so sleeping will become easier. Also, this was the week of the Cedarburg Plein Air contest, so I have been spending a lot of my days outside. My work didn’t turn out too well, but I learned a lot and had a loads of fun.

The WRAP workshop was a success, Our guest artist, Michael Julian, gave a great presentation and an informative critique. Thank you, Jan Wood, for all your years of running the WRAP show.

Our challenge for the month of June was to paint on a surface other than paper or canvas. It will be fun to see what painted objects people bring. Also, feel free to bring completed artwork from past critiques that you have not shown yet. Thank you Karen Bloo Marine for presenting us with  this challenge.

Our challenge for the month of July was inspired by our last presenter,Beki Borman, who demonstrated painting with a palette knife. I have a feeling some of you left the meeting with the thought, “I want to try painting that way,” or “ Maybe I should try another palette knife painting.” Well, this is your chance. We did this challenge a long time ago, but thought it would be a good chance to try it again. Thank you Carol, for all the great artists that you are finding for us.

Have a great week and hope to see you soon. Also, if you know of any past members, please inform them that we will be meeting in person. Maybe they will want to get involved again.
