“Artists are just children who refuse to put down their crayons.”- Al Hirschfeld
It is hard to believe that the changing of the seasons is happening already. Also, our WCAL year will be coming to an end soon. There are only 3 more meetings before our winter break. Hopefully we will be able to finish the year meeting in person, but it is hard to say with certainty.
Four of us had fun dumping and swirling and playing with paint at Karen Bloo Marine’s house, although it was an extremely hot day and started raining part way through. We did this as a way to work on our challenge for the month of September ( September 15) ,which is to create a Jackson Pollock style painting.
Our challenge for the month of October was suggested by John Klug and involves digging up an old ( or new) box of crayons and trying to produce a beautiful piece of art with it. John recommended working on watercolor paper. It will be interesting to see what the talented artists in our group produce with crayons and paper.
Our Courthouse Purchase Award Contest will be coming up soon. The deadline for entering is September 25. Please consider entering. Thankfully, we are able to have a live contest this year and not a virtual one.
We had our board meeting on Sept 9th, and made an amendment to the constitution regarding dues, decided to simplify the website and discussed positions that need to be filled for next year. Please consider serving the group by volunteering to chair or assist in one of the open positions. It is a great way to get to know people better. We will discuss these items more at our next meeting.
See you soon,
