President’s Newsletter (& more!) April 2022

From Karon Bloo Marine (WCAL President)
Hello fellow artists !  Heard our first meeting was  successful at choosing two photos to paint , or do any artistic piece, for the June challenge. Make an inquiry at Wednesday’s meeting as to where to locate the photos in your emails . The April challenge was to do a piece that emphasizes shadows.  The May challenge will take up the subject of a border or pattern around the subject.  Wonderful ideas !!
The WRAP Show was hung this past Saturday at the Oconomowoc Arts Center.  It is a lovely show and many thanks to the volunteers who helped to make it shine.

“And more”…
From Carol Meissner…..Program Chair
The April speaker/demonstrator is Tom Mulhaney, a self taught watercolor artist who has been painting for 55 years. Tom taught at WCTC evening classes and has been teaching at Brookfield Senior Center for many years on a volunteer basis. He has given demonstrations to various art groups in the area.  Tom loves what he does and this is apparent in his interacting with his classes and art groups.  Many of his students continue coming to his classes and demonstrations for years.
Tom is an outgoing person and will engage quickly with the group.    He is going to demonstrate how he works and teaches at the same time demonstrating his work.  Come ready for an enjoyable first speaker of the year.

“Artwork drop-off for the WRAP show was April 16th and the show is now open! Stop by the Oconomowoc Arts Center to check out all of the wonderful artwork. I would also like to thank Karon Bloo Marine, Margaret Schumann, Carol Meissner, Kathy Prondzinski and Jeanne Shay for taking time out of their Easter weekend to help me check in and hang all of the artwork!”

A note from member Betty Clayton….
Tiny Treasures,
Calling all members to send in Tiny Treasures…. Encourage your art friends! Last year at the AWA convention we had to share a prize with Janesville because we tied for participation with them. The prize was $50 for the number of people participating, we only got $25 last year. Janesville announced to the group they were going to win this year. So let’s give it the old one two and see if our group can win all this year. Remember to mark the form at the bottom that you are from the WCAL group, our Waukesha group.  If your friend isn’t a member it doesn’t matter, so make sure it’s marked WCAL. We will get credit for it. Thanks….Betty
